Protest against OPCW continues

Protest against the failure of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to act on the Turkish poison gas attacks in Southern Kurdistan continues. The protesters accuse the OPCW of having lost all credibility.

Since 3 May, activists from the Benelux countries have been gathering every Tuesday in front of the building of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, calling on the organisation to start investigations into Turkey's continued use of chemical weapons in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).

The Turkish army has used poison gas hundreds of times since the beginning of the air-ground invasion in Southern Kurdistan’s Medya Defense Zones on 17 April 2022. The activists criticised the OPCW's behaviour, saying, "This is tantamount to complicity. The OPCW has lost all credibility as an institution in the eyes of the Kurds by its silence.”
