Protests continue after Turkey's drone attacks on the People's Council in the town of Sinunê in the Yazidi region of Shengal. According to the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Council (MXDŞ), one child was killed and seven people were injured in the Turkish drone attack on Sinunê on Wednesday. Initial reports had spoken of two dead and six injured.
On Thursday, activists gathered in the Swiss town of Aarau to protest the Turkish regime’s genocidal attacks in various parts of the Kurdistan territory.
“Erdoğan wants to save himself through war”
The co-chairman of the Democratic Society Centre in Aarau, Hasan Vural, condemned the silence of European states on the deadly attacks and stated the following at the protest rally, "We have come together to stop this aggressive attitude of the Turkish state. The Turkish state does not stop, it attacks Shengal, Maxmur, the guerrilla areas and Rojava. Tayyip Erdoğan wants to save himself by attacking everywhere in Kurdistan. We will continue our struggle to thwart Erdoğan's dirty plans."
"We don't want people to die in Ukraine or in Kurdistan"
Vural accused Europe of double standards and said: "Today, Europeans are protesting against Russia's attacks on Ukraine. However, the Turkish state's attacks have continued uninterrupted since 17 April. No European state has protested against this. We don't want people to die in Ukraine, but equally, we don't want Kurds to be killed either. Wars are dirty, we have to stand stronger against this war."
At the end of the demonstration, activists called for strong participation in the massive demonstration to be held in Düsseldorf on 25 June.
