Protest in Bern after deadly drone attack in Hesekê

A protest demonstration was staged in the Swiss city of Bern after the Turkish attack on an educational centre for girls in northern Syria, in which four girls were killed and eleven injured.

A group of activists staged a demonstration in the Swiss city of Bern after the deadly Turkish attack on an education centre for girls on Thursday. Four girls were killed and eleven others injured in the attack near the village of Şemoka (Shamuqah), between Til Temir and Hesekê.

The “Group Offensive Against Femicides" organised the protest and put up pictures of the murdered Raniya Eta, Zozan Zêdan, Dîlan Izedîn and Diyane Elo at important points in the Swiss capital.

The activists stated: "On Thursday 18 August, an UN-supported education centre for girls was bombed by a Turkish drone. Four girls were killed and 11 injured. The names of the dead children are Dîlan Ezedîn, Ranya Eta, Zozan Zêdan and Diyana Elo. Children are the centre of life! Our grief becomes anger, our anger becomes resistance."

The activists further stressed: "These attacks are femicides. These attacks by the Turkish army against the youth and women's movement are directed against the heart of society and the revolution. Turkey declared a war on the self-governing region of Rojava, bombs schools, kills children and the world watches silently! These attacks on women and girls deeply shock all of us who are fighting against patriarchy. These attacks are not only against individuals but are part of the strategy to maintain and expand patriarchal and capitalist domination. We will repel these attacks by defending the revolution of Rojava."
