Protest in Wales against criminalisation of PKK

Kurdish People's Assembly Wales will hold a protest against the criminalisation of the PKK at Pill Millennium Centre Newport at 12 pm (British time) tomorrow.

The Pill Millennium Centre in Newport recently took the decision not to rent their facilities to the Kurdish community for any reason and for any kind of activity.

In a statement released by the Kurdish Peoples Assembly this attitude is labelled as bringing to mind "the fascist policies of the German Hitler dictatorship towards Jews, the apartheid governments suppression of their people, and many more."

The statement continued: "The PKK, which has been fighting against the genocide policies carried out by the fascist Turkish state for the Kurdish people for years, is waging an armed struggle in order to exist and maintain the legitimate right of the Kurdish people, their identity, their culture, their language."

The statement continued: "The PKK, which has been calling the Turkish state for years for a peaceful and democratic solution of the Kurdish issue, is not a terrorist organisation but rather a movement of freedom and democracy that tries to put an end to the state terror, denial and extermination policies of the Turkish state in Kurdistan and struggles for the equality and brotherhood of the peoples."

The statement also reminded that "today, this truth is now settled even in European courts, especially in Britain, politicians from all over the world, famous writers and academics are working to delist the PKK from the terror list and having organised platforms, conferences, held in Newport and all over the world."

The Kurdish Peoples Assembly Wales said: "This decision is not only criminalising the Kurdish people but also is repressing their social, political and cultural rights. We call all our people and friends to participate strongly in the protest in front of the Pill Millennium Center on Wednesday 27th."
