Protests in Switzerland against attacks on Şengal

Demonstrations were staged in the cities of Lausanne and Lucerne, Switzerland in protest at the ongoing attacks and threats of the Iraqi army against the Yazidi town of Şengal in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger-TCŞ) organized a protest at Bahnhofplatz in Lucerne.

A statement on behalf of the TCŞ condemned the recent attacks on Şengal and the silence of international forces. The Youth Movement emphasized that they would continue their actions.

Slogans protesting the KDP and Turkey were chanted frequently during the protest.

In Lausanne, a protest demonstration which has been held since November 24, 2021 to demand the physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan continued this week.

This week's protest denounced the attacks on Şengal and the Turkish army's new invasion attacks targeting Medya Defense Zones.

Signatures were collected during the protest action as part of the campaign launched to remove the PKK from the list of “terrorist organizations”.
