Taken into custody two days before the election, the former Bingöl Provincial Chairman of banned DTP (Democratic society Party) and BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Omer Faruk Ersöz has been sent on remand. Ersöz's lawyer Zihni Karaaslan stated that Ersöz was exposed to torture when taken to Police Headquarters, noting that Ersöz got a fractured nose, head and ribs and injuries on arm, leg and various parts of his body.
While Prime Minister Erdogan and government officials keep saying "zero tolerance to torture" , one more torture news came from Bingöl. The former Bingöl Provincial Chairman of closed DTP and BDP, lawyer Ömer Faruk Ersöz was taken into custody after the glorious meeting of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block on June 12, two days before the elections. Sent to Prosecution Office after his interrogation at police headquarters, Ersöz was referred to court with an arrest demand for allegedly "being a member of the organization". Ersöz was arrested and sent to Bingöl M Type Closed Prison.
Ersöz's lawyer Zihni Karaaslan remarked that Ersöz was exposed to torture and insults at police headquearters, stating that he has filed a criminal complaint against the police officers applying torture on Ersöz whose torture was revealed with the photo taken at the court where he was exposed to torture.
