The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced its presidential candidate. After the meeting between the PUK co-chair Bafil Talabani and KDP officials and KDP chair Massoud Barzani on the Iraqi Presidency, the PUK Politburo also held a meeting to discuss their presidential candidate.

Eta Serawi, member of the PUK Politburo, said on his Facebook account that "important decisions were taken at the meeting. There will be only one candidate from the PUK in the Iraqi presidential elections, and that will be Barham Salih."
