Armenian TV channel Erkir Television announced that a group of armed people raided and took control of a police station in Yerevan yesterday. 1 person died and several other people got injured during the event.
The ID information of dead and injured people has not yet been clarified, and police chief Valeriy Ospiyan stated that many people were taken as hostages. Armenia Nation Security Service stated that negotiations with the people in control of the station are under way.
Interfax suggested that the assailants demand the release of Jirayr Sefilyan, who is the leader of an opposition group and was arrested in June after he was charged with possessing illegal weapons.
