A march was organized in London by the British Democratic Forces Union to demand the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The march was in solidarity with the resistance of HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven.

A three-day solidarity tent was put up in Manor by the Migrant Workers Association and members of the Socialist Women's Union.

Members of the two organisations who also went on a solidarity hunger strike walked to Trafalgar Square, where the action was held.

British Kurdish People's Assembly, British Alevi Federation, Day-Mer Gik-Der, and are some of the 27 institutions that formed the Democratic Forces Union.

Speaking in the demonstration, assistant president of Transportation Railways (RMT) union Steve Hedley said that the hunger strikers are in a very critical state and urged everyone to put pressure on Turkey to act.

Hunger striker Yüksel Koç from Strasbourg and Ilhan Şiş from Wales addressed the crowd via phone.

Both hunger strikers called on everyone to spread the resistance.

The statement made in the name of the British Democratic Forces Union, said that the demands of the hunger strikers are everybody’s demands.

“The indefinite hunger strike carried out by hundreds of prisoners and activists, and led by Leyla Güven has reached a critical stage. We are deeply concerned and aware of the fact that every passing moment brings us closer to death and permanent damages.

We want to remind that Leyla Güven and the other hunger strikers are putting their life at risk demanding a basic right, which is everyone’s right. We asked to everyone to respond with sensitivity to the hunger strikers demand and do anything in their hands to support them.”

But with the awareness of what every last moment could cost and how to hurt the conscience of society; we would like to share with all the public that we are obliged to assume more responsibility in order not to be a generation whose conscience has been wounded by witnessing the deaths and partnered with the deathly deaths.

The activists urged “the authorities to comply with national and international legislation to ensure that the lives of Güven and other hunger strikers are saved. Isolation is a crime against humanity.”
