IHD Amed Branch announced that they are suspending the sit-in for the disappeared to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

IHD Amed Branch said in a statement: "The relatives of the disappeared who are holding an action every week together with our association to demand justice and the truth for the disappeared people are suspending the action due to the threat pose by the coronavirus pandemic. The action has reached week 579 and it will be suspended until further notice."

The statement continued: "This decision was taken in line with the recommendations issued by health authorities to avoid mothers and relatives of the disappeared from being exposed to a possible health problem. Our struggle for justice and truth will continue."
