A great number of bones and pieces of clothes emerged in the excavation in the village of Baðözü (Tiruva) in the twon of Dargeçit (Mardin) today. The excavation had been launched in connection with the investigation on the enforced disappearances of six persons following the application of families at the prosecutor's office.
The missing people are: Davut Altýnkaynak (13), Süleyman Seyhan, Hikmet Kaya, Abdurrahman Coþkun (21), Abdullah Olcay (20), Mehmet Emin Aslan (19), Nedim Akyön (16) and Seyhan Doðan (14) were taken into custody in an operation by the Dargeçit Gendarmerie Command between 2 and 6 November, 1995. Only Süleyman Seyhan's burnt and headless body was found on March 6, 1996 in a well.
Bones belonging to four persons had already been unearthed in the excavation. It is reported that Baðözü which was evacuated in 1993 could have been used as a mass grave.
