Russia will give Syria S-300s after the plane crisis

Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu stated that Russia will deliver the S-300 air defense systems to the Syrian army in 15 days.

Russian Defense Ministry has announced that they have decided to deliver S-300 air defense systems to Syria following the “accidental” downing of a fighter jet during an Israeli attack on the Syrian shore.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu stated that Russia will deliver the S-300 air defense systems to the Syrian army in 15 days.

Shoygu said, “The land to air S-300 modern missile system will be delivered to the Syrian Armed Forces within 2 weeks. This system is capable of preventing air strikes at a range over 250 km and simultaneously strike several airborne targets.”

The Russian scout plane had been downed over the Mediterranean as Israel stroke Syrian targets near Latakia on September 17. It was announced that the plane was shot by accident as the Syrian army attempted to stop the attacks. Russia holds Israel responsible for the attack.

The Russian army issued a statement on Sunday and accused Israel of “providing false information” that resulted in the downing of the plane. The Russian army announced the results of their investigation and stated that the Russian aircraft failed to leave the area for a safe zone in time due to “fallacious information”.
