The Saturday Mothers in Istanbul, Diyarbakýr, Batman and Nusaybin once again voiced their demand for the fate of the disappeared to be unveiled and those responsible of unidentified murders and enforced disappearances to be finally brought to justice.
In Istanbul, the 359th sit in action was dedicated to Ali Kayahan who disappeared after being taken under custody 39 years ago. Witness of his enforced disappearance, writer Mukaddes Erdoðdu Çelik told their telegrams to the PM of the time Bülent Ecevit, the Minister of Interior Affairs Oðuzhan Asiltürk, the Minister of Justice Þevket Kazan and Balýkesir MPs were replied as 'Ali Kayahan has not been taken under custody.' Çelik called for an independent commission with broad authority for the investigation of enforced disappearances and unidentified murders.
In Diyarbakýr, Medical Chamber President Þemsettin Koç said, "We have to face the past to be able to solve the issues and to establish peace." Koç also emphasized the necessity of a truth commission. The protest was dedicated to Nurettin Çur who disappeared on June 27, 1994. His brother Musa Çur told that they received a telephone call after his brother's disappearance, saying that they had him. Another phone call to Nurettin Çur's father on July 27 said "Your sons's punishment term is over. We will release him after Ramadan." However, the family never heard from Nurettin again.
In Batman, the Human Rights Association (ÝHD) Branch Chair Osman Künteþ protested in his speech the ongoing arrests and the secrecy decision applied to the investigation of the excavation in the claimed mass grave in Ýçkale, Diyarbakýr.
In the Nusaybin Town of Mardin, the Saturday Mothers' protest was supported by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Mardin Co-Chair Sihem Elveren Alp, BDP Nusaybin Co-Chair Ayten Kahraman, Nusaybin Mayor Ayþe Gökkan and Yeþilalan Mayor Gülbeyaz Güneþ. The sitting protest was dedicated to Hamit and Bayram Bal who were murdered 17 years ago. Hamit Bal's widow Hafize Bal told that soldiers took away her husband from the Mosque one morning and that they found his body 59 days later on a road.
