SDF liberates al-Zibah village 6 km to Iraqi border

SDF fighters have liberated the village of Zina 6 km to the Iraqi border as part of the Operation Cizire Storm.

Fighters of the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) got 2 km closer to the Iraqi border after their liberation of Dashisha town, last ISIS stronghold in the region, from ISIS 5 days ago.

Following fierce clashes with ISIS gangs, SDF forces liberated the village of al-Zibah from ISIS mercenaries. Now, there is only a 6 km distance between SDF forces and Iraqi border.

SDF fighter Orkeş Çiya said the following about the ongoing campaign; “We liberated the Dashisha town on the 14th day of the campaign. We are in al-Zibah village at the moment and we are clearing it of mines and ruins of war to ensure the return of local people.”

SDF forces have liberated a 30 km area including dozens of villages and Dashisha town after the relaunch of their campaign Operation Cizire Storm on June 4 to clear the area still under ISIS control, centered around the Dashisha town, to the south of Heseke and to ensure the security of the Iraq-Syria border.
