Second week of the vigil in Strasbourg launched

The second week of the vigil of Kurdish organizations against Turkish expansionism and international support for the Erdogan regime has been launched in Strasbourg.

The second week of the vigil of Kurdish organizations against Turkish expansionism and international support for the Erdogan regime was launched in Strasbourg on Monday. The initiative, supported by the umbrella organizations TJK-E and KCDK-E, takes place under the slogan "Everywhere against occupation and genocide - time for freedom" on the square in front of the Council of Europe, where a permanent rally for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan has been held since 2012.

The vigil, scheduled for four weeks, is held by changing groups, and was led by exiled politicians in the first week. As of today, a 25-member group has arrived from Germany and Switzerland. Among them are representatives of the Democratic Unity Party (PYD). A total of 78 Kurdish and Turkish organizations support the initiative, which opposes the attacks on the Kurdish liberation movement and the international community's failure to respond to Turkish expansionism. The central issue is also the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. A vigil for the freedom of the Kurdish leader has been held in front of the CPT and the Council of Europe for nine years.

At today's kick-off, the protest was again especially directed against the silence of the European institutions in the face of the war crimes and violations of international law by the AKP/MHP regime in Turkey and Kurdistan. The Kurdish society and people and organizations showing solidarity with the Kurds and other oppressed peoples of the region were called upon to strengthen the common struggle against Turkish fascism.
