Seminar on Kurdistan in South African University

The KNK delegation in Cape Town, South Africa is holding political meetings and informative seminars.

KNK (Kurdistan National Congresd) Co-chair Nilüfer Koç gave a seminar in Western Cape University Law Faculty on the Kurdish issue and the strategic position of Kurds in the Middle East to 500 students and faculty.

Koç stated that a new movement for democracy has been launched led by the Kurds amidst the great chaos and confusion in the Middle East, and added that considering the struggle of the Kurds to be just a national issue would be insufficient. Koç also stated that the 100-year long politics of divide-and-conquer to use the peoples against each other is not possible any more, and that the Kurds united all the differences in the region with their own uniqueness.

“GREATEST ADVANTAGE OF KURDS IS ÖCALAN”

Koç said: “However much the global and regional powers, like Turkey, wanted to deepen the wars over gang groups like ISIS in the chaos and crisis of the Middle East, they failed to do this in Kurdistan. On this matter, Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan warned Kurds years ago and offered them new alternative models to prepare them.”

KNK Co-chair pointed out that the greatest advantage the Kurds have is that they have a leader like Öcalan, and mentioned that Öcalan was held in strict isolation conditions because of his libertarian ideas. Koç added that one of the most important distinctions of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle from other liberation struggles is the women’s liberation struggle, and spoke on how the women’s freedom struggle improved democracy in the Middle East.
