Seven demonstrators killed in Iraq

In the evening, 7 people lost their lives and many people were injured in Baghdad.

The anti-government demonstrations in the capital Baghdad and in various Shiite cities have been going on for more than two months.

Late on Friday evening unidentified people opened fire on the car park near Tahrir Square, which was used by demonstrators in Baghdad since the protests began.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of armed people targeted civilian vehicles at first with molotov cocktails and then opened fire on the demonstrators.

Iraq official sources have not made any statement about the incident so far.

After the incident, the demonstrators chanted anti-government slogans and tension is starting to mount again.

The number of those who lost their lives in the demonstrations increased from 1 October to 450, while more than 15,000 people were injured.
