Seven teachers who had been detained in house raids yesterday morning in the Pazarcık district of Maraş have been referred to the court after processing in the security directorate. The teachers are members of educators union Eğitim-Sen and the Human Rights Association (İHD) Maraş Branch and had previously been expelled with a Statutory Decree (KHK). Teachers Özgür Güler, Sedat Sakallı, Serkan Altınöz, Herdem Şahin, Erdal Tanrıverdi, Bazo Çiftepala and Adem Erin gave their statements in the prosecutor’s office on allegations of “terrorist propaganda” for participating in a press statement by Eğitim-Sen after the October 6-8 Kobanê protests in 2014, and were referred to the court with a demand for their arrest.

The court ruled for the arrest of seven teachers on the same allegations.

The arrested teachers have been sent to the Maraş Type E Closed Prison.
