Sit-in against Turkish occupation and isolation of Öcalan continues in Geneva

The sit-in protest continues in front of the United Nations Office in Geneva to protest the invasion attacks of the Turkish state and the isolation of Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Since January 24, Kurdish activists have been carrying out a sit-in protest every Wednesday in front of the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

The activists held a rally during the latest sit-in displaying Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s posters and PKK, YPG, YPJ flags.

A minute's silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the Kurdistan freedom struggle during the sit-in as part of the “Everywhere Avaşin, everywhere Zap, everywhere Metina against the isolation, occupation and genocide, Time for Freedom” campaign.

Delivering a speech during the action, Geneva Democratic Kurdish Community Center Co-Chair Salih Sağlam stated that the invasion of Kurdistan and the massacre attacks against the Kurdish people were intertwined with the isolation imposed on Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Sağlam emphasized that if the “Time for Freedom” campaign succeeds, the isolation and genocidal attacks of the Turkish state cannot continue.

“In this sense, we will respond to the invasion and genocidal attacks of the Turkish state, which have been going on since April 23, with the support of the UN and European states, by turning every place into a site of resistance against the isolation of our Leader.”

The activists called for strong participation in the 3-day march that will start on June 10 in the city of Lausanne under the leadership of the 'Defend Kurdistan' Initiative with the slogan “Let's defend Kurdistan against the Turkish Invasion”.
