The ‘Great Battle’ launched by the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to take Raqqa from ISIS gangs on June 6 has entered its fourth month. SDF has gained control over more than 85% of the city so far. Fighting between SDF and ISIS intensifies in Nahda, Fardaws, Mansur and Kurdan neighborhoods.
Raqqa province has 25 neighborhoods, which include a town, and 19 of these have been liberated since the launch of the campaign.
SDF fighters have freed tens of thousands of inhabitants from the clutches of ISIS gangs and thousands of these have been settled in the camp in Ayn Îsa.
SDF forces are tightening noose around ISIS in Raqqa and some operational units partaking in the Great Battle have been dispatched to Deir ez-Zor region to provide support for the Operation Cizire Storm launched by Deir ez-Zor Military Council to clear the territory of ISIS on September 9th.
Rapid advances are being made against ISIS in both Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
