Six people detained in Roboski

Six people have been taken into custody in the village of Roboski (Ortasu), in the province of Þýrnak.

It is emerged that relatives of some of the 35 people slaughtered by Turkish warplanes on 28 December have been taken into custody. The names of the detained people are Faruk Encu ile Serbest Encu, Nihat Encu, Nezir Encu, Ferset Encu and Ferdi Alma. They have been detained in the early hours of the morning, apparently after a control by soldiers.

On Wednesday another villager, Özcan Encu, had been taken into custody after an identity control. He is still under detention.

The arrests happened in the midst of speculation about a compensation the government would pay to the families of the 35 people killed by the Turkish army. Some of the families have said they will not accept any compensation, seen as a way to cover up search for the truth of what really happened and of who is responsible for the slaughter.
