Socialist women from Europe visit Suruç and Kobanê

A delegation of socialist women from Europe arrived in Suruç district of Urfa to mark the 8 March, International Women’s Day in solidarity with Kobanê.

A delegation of socialist women from Europe arrived in Suruç district of Urfa yesterday to mark the 8 March, International Women’s Day in solidarity with Kobanê.

The group who delivered medicine and clothing to the Rojava Aid and Solidarity Association later crossed into Kobanê. Today the delegation has left for Nusaybin to join the World March of Women starting there as part of 8 March activities in Kurdistan.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation of socialist women from Europe, mainly from Germany and France, Sultan Şahin said they came to Suruç in order to see at the site the solidarity with Kobanê and to be part of it. Şahin said they had planned to come to North Kurdistan alongside the other French women's associations on 6 March, but decided to come earlier to visit the villages and the tent cities in Suruç in order to learn from the women of the region and to develop mutual solidarity.

Şahin said they would also join theWorld March of Women which starts in Nusaybin today and added that it is all the most meaningful and valuable that this year’s march has been dedicated to Kobanê where the resistance of women set an example to the women of the world.

The delegation together with Nuran Ağırnaslı, mother of MLKP fighter Suphi Nejat Ağırnaslı who lost his life in the battle in Kobanê, and another delegation of 4 women from Italy crossed into Kobanê from Mursitpınar border gate.
