SOHR: Nearly 200 Turkish-backed proxies killed in Libya

Turkey’s involvement in Libya war: 7,400 Syrian mercenaries volunteer to go to Libya, nearly 200 of whom killed in Libyan territory so far.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a spike in death toll of the Syrian mercenaries who were killed in the ongoing military operations in Libya.

According to SOHR, nine Turkish-backed mercenaries were killed in battles with Haftar’s forces on several frontlines in Libya, bringing the total death toll of Turkish-backed Syrian proxies who were killed in military operations in Libya to 199.

The fatalities are of the factions “al-Mu’tasim Division, Sultan Murad, Suqur Al-Shamal Brigade, Al-Hamzat and Suleiman Shah”.

Citing “very reliable sources”, SOHR said that the fatalities were killed in clashes on frontlines of Salah Al-Din in the south of Tripoli, Al-Ramlah near Tripoli Airport, Al-Hadabah Project area, Misrata and other areas in Libya.

“Meanwhile, Turkey continues sending batches of Syrian mercenaries to to Libya, with the aim of joining battles in the side of the “Government of National Accord” against the “Libyan National Army”. Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that a new batch of tens of Turkish-backed Syrian fighters have arrived in Libya,” said the Observatory.

Accordingly, the number of recruits who arrived in Tripoli up to date, rose to nearly 5,300, while nearly 2,100 others arrived in Turkey to undergo training courses.
