Solidarity action for journalist Yýldýz
A demonstration is being organized in Taksim, Istanbul, to call for the release of journalist Ýsmail Yýldýz.
The Özgürlük Ýnisiyatifi (Freedom Inititative) has released a statement calling for the release of Ýsmail Yýldýz, who has been detained together with 49 journalists on 20 December in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation. Thirty five media workers have been subsequently remanded in custody, included Ismail. "We call on friends - say the statement - of journalist and theater actor Ýsmail (Rawin) Yýldýz to meet on Thursday 5 January at 11.30 in front of the tram stop in Taksim."
The organizers will post cards to Ismail to show their solidarity.
