Solidarity with Leyla Guven before her hearing

Peace in Kurdistan Campaign said: "We stand in solidarity with you in your principled stand against the violation of the most basic rights of the Kurdish people and their political representatives by the Turkish state."

Peace in Kurdistan Campaign has sent a message on the occasion of the 4th hearing of HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Guven’s case to be held in Diyarbakir 9th Heavy Penal Court on 26th December 2018.

The message said: "We stand in solidarity with you in your principled stand against the violation of the most basic rights of the Kurdish people and their political representatives by the Turkish state."

The message continued: "We realise that after approaching 50 days on hunger strike this is now a critical moment to which Turkey must respond.

Over the years you have consistently spoken out against Turkey's oppressive policies both internally and externally. For giving voice to the legitimate demands of the Kurdish people you have paid a heavy price in the treatment meted out by the Turkish authorities. Your repeated arrest and imprisonment are all too sadly the common fate of Kurdish politicians in modern Turkey."

Peace in Kurdistan Campaign reconognises the heroic resistance embodies the political struggle of the Kurds for the freedom and national identity that are denied them by Turkey today but that will one day surely soon be achieved.

As an elected representative of your people you provide the strong principled leadership needed to embolden the people to confront the increasingly aggressive approach adopted President Erdogan towards the Kurds. Your resistance inspires your own community and people across the world."

The statement continued: "Under Erdogan Turkey has been turned into a prison for all Kurds. The world must no longer remain silent in the face of this historic injustice. We believe that people are now waking up to the true nature of the Turkish regime. Peace in Kurdistan stands firm in solidarity with you."

Finally the message urged “Turkey not only to release you immediately but furthermore to comply with your demands for an end to the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan and for President Erdogan to abandon his military aggression against the Kurds in Syria."
