Some 64 Turkey-backed mercenaries have died in Nagorno Karabakh

At least 64 mercenaries sent from the Turkish state to Azerbaijan to fight against the Armenians have been killed, reports said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented, over the last 48 hours, an increase in the death toll among Syrian mercenaries fighting in Azerbaijan. The fatalities have risen to 36.

Since the breakout of the battles in Azerbaijan, the death toll of Turkish-backed Syrian mercenaries rose to 64, while dozens of fighters were injured and are reported missing.

Syrian Observatory sources have reported that fierce battles and clashes are taking place in several strategic locations in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, and that Syrian mercenaries have been sent to the frontline.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Armenia has been protesting that the Turkish state has been sending mercenaries from Syria to Azerbaijan.

This information has been confirmed by many other countries, starting with France.

The number of fighters arrived in Azerbaijan has increased to nearly 1,200 according to the Syrian Observatory.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement on the Turkish state's involvement in the war against Nagorno-Karabakh and said that Ankara's intervention will aggravate the situation.

The clashes started with a major operation of the Azerbaijani army against the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsah) Republic on 27 September.
