The 14 activists are entering day 81 of their fast and continue to enjoy the support of Kurds and European people.

On 17 December 14 Kurdish activists went on indefinite hunger strike in Strasbourg with the slogan ‘Let’s break isolation, let’s destroy fascism’.

The 14 activists are entering day 81 of their fast and continue to enjoy the support of Kurds and European people.

Kurds from the city of Lübeck and members of the Midyat Council of Europe visited the hunger strikers on day 80.

Talking on behalf of the group from Lübeck, Nasir Akgül stressed that it is not enough to give support to the resistance against isolation and that the Kurdish people should be in full action. Akgül said that the people reclaiming their Leader will defeat the fascist policies implemented by the Turkish state.

Support from the Midyat Council of Europe

Speaking on behalf of the European Midyat Council, Izzettin Yıldırım wished all the activists success. Underlining that the heavy isolation imposed on the Kurdish People's Leader is imposed on all the Kurdish people, Yıldırım stated that it is important to address isolation in this way.

Yıldırım stressed that the hunger strikes against Öcalan for inhuman isolation were a non-violent, humanitarian and democratic form of action, and that the Kurdish people should take a strong part in the actions.

Emphasizing that all humanity is interconnected and has common social interests, Yıldırım said that the desire for democracy, brotherhood and free life is the common desire of all humanity.

He added that all people wanting democracy and freedom should voice the Kurdish people and add their own voice, as it is time to break the silence and isolation.

Yıldırım said that the hunger strikers are writing history and added: “This resistance will certainly be a success.”

Mam Zeki Şengali’s son in Strasbourg

Among the visitors who showed solidarity to the hunger strikers in Strasbourg was also Iskender Şengali, son of Shengal Yazidi Coordination member Zeki Şengali (Ismail Özden) who was murdered in an air raid by the Turkish state in Shengal, South Kurdistan last year.

Şengali said that the resistance of Mam Zeki Şengali is being carried on by hunger strikers in Strasbourg.
