Strasbourg resistance on day 104

Kurdish activists continue their fast for Öcalan with great resolve.

The hunger strike resistance initiated by Kurdish politician Leyla Güven, who was later joined by thousands of prisoners in Turkey and dozens of activists in Turkey, Kurdistan, Europe and beyond continues with great determination. The activists who are receiving solidarity from all around the world demand the end of the isolation regime executed against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı Island Prison where he has been held for 20 years.

While Leyla Güven is on her 143rd day of fast, 14 Kurdish activists, who include HDP former MP and Öcalan’s niece Dilek Öcalan and KCDK-E (European Kurdish Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair Yüksel Koç, leaves their 104th day of indefinite non-alternating hunger strike behind.

While the activists can rarely receive visitors due to their deteriorating health, they spend most of the day in bed. During the day, dozens of Kurds came for a solidarity visit to the Kurdish activists.

A doctor from Switzerland has also visited the 14 activists and examined them on Saturday.
