Ten college students at the Celal Bayar University and a part-time worker of the University in Manisa Province were fired by the college administration for participating in a press conference to protest against Roboski massacre.

It was the fact that all of the fired students attended the conference that drew attention at the mass dismissal. The university administration say they expel the students for discipline matters.

On 28 December the Turkish Armed Forces launched an airstrike and killed 35 civilians in the vicinity of the village of Roboski.
