Swedish Left Party's call to international community for Rojava

Swedish Left Party President stated that Turkey wants to occupy Rojava and called on the international community to take a stand against it.

Pointing to the Turkish state’s preparations to attack the egalitarian system in Rojava, Swedish Left Party President Jonas Sjöstedt called on the world and all progressive forces to take a stand against the Turkish state’s approach.

In a video message on Twitter, the Swedish politician recalled that Turkey has plainly expressed its readiness to attack Northern Syria where Kurds, Arabs, Christians and Muslims live together.

“That is the most progressive region in Syria. Nowhere else are women as powerful as they are there. They stopped ISIS. They fought to stop the terrorists on the ground. They fought for us, too. Now Turkey wants to send its tanks there and drive the people out of their land, just like what has happened in Afrin. Turkey wants terror to domain the region under the rule of radical Islamists. This should not be allowed. The outside world must stand against this.”

Sjöstedt ended his message by calling for the termination of arms sales to Turkey, suspension of EU’s financial assistance for Turkey and action by the outside world before Turkey starts an aggression.
