Syria and Russia intensify Idlib operations

Syrian government forces and their ally Russia have intensified their operations against the Hama and Idlib regions.

Areas targeted by Russia and the Damascus regime are reportedly the “no-clash zones” determined by Moscow and Ankara.

The operations focus on the north of Hama and southern regions of Idlib.

Thousands have fled to camps near the Turkish border due to the operations. There are reports that claim barrel bombs were used in the operation too. Sources close to Turkey-backed gangs allege that at least 15 civilians have died of bomb related injuries and dozens are wounded.
Syrian state television’s report based on military sources argued that the gang groups are responsible for the clashes, and that the operation only targets the “terrorist groups by Ham”.

The Idlib region is controlled by the Ankara-backed gang coalition Hayat Tahrir Al Sham (HTS – former Al Nusra)

The gangs issued a statement and said they hit several Syrian regime targets and at least 4 Russian soldiers were killed.
