Syrian army responds to YPG’s call

The Syrian army has responded to the YPG’s call on the Syrian government against the Turkish state’s threats of invasion, and announced that the army has entered Manbij.

According to the Sanaa news agency, armed forces and army general command announced that they have entered Manbij.

The Command issued a written statement and said, “On the call of Manbij residents, the armed forces and army general command announce that Syrian Arab Army units have entered Manbij.”

The statement said, “The Command repeats its resolve to destroy terrorism and remove all invaders on Syrian territory.”

The Syrian army added: “Syrian army forces thus guarantee the safety of all Syrian citizens and everybody on the field.

The statement came after the YPG General Command called on the Syrian government to defend the areas YPG forces have withdrawn from, starting with Manbij, from Turkish state invasions.

The YPG had said:

“Due to the invading Turkish state’s threats to invade northern Syria and displace its people similarly to al-Bab, Jarablus and Afrin, we as the People’s Protection Units, following the withdrawal of our forces from Manbij before, announce that our forces will be focusing on the fight against ISIS on all the fronts in the east of the Euphrates.

In conjunction with this, we invite the Syrian government forces which are obliged to protect the same country, nation and borders, to assert control over the areas our forces have withdrawn from, in particularly Manbij, and to protect these areas against a Turkish invasion.”
