The seven-member İmralı Delegation made public Abdullah Öcalan's historic call after a meeting with the Kurdish leader yesterday.
After the reading of the call, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, member of the DEM Party's İmralı delegation and DEM Party Parliamentary Deputy Chair, conveyed Öcalan’s additional note, which said, "Undoubtedly, the laying down of arms and the dissolution of the PKK in practice require the recognition of democratic politics and a legal framework."
Why this paragraph was not included in the text presented by Abdullah Öcalan in his own handwriting has been one of the matters of curiosity since yesterday.
According to the information obtained by the Mesopotamia Agency (MA), the paragraph in question was included in the text after talks with state officials.
Sharing this paragraph with the İmralı Delegation, Öcalan said that the text was drafted on February 25, but after his intensive contacts with state officials, they agreed that this paragraph should also be included in the statement.
Accordingly, the delegation agreed to formulate the paragraph in this way as a result of intensive contacts and negotiations with Öcalan, but it was not included in the text due to delays caused by discussions with state officials and the joint procedures with the relevant mechanisms.
After sharing this information with the delegation, Öcalan informed them that he would also read this paragraph in his call.
Then Abdullah Öcalan and the delegation appeared in front of three cameras in İmralı. Öcalan ended his call with this paragraph.
Following the video message, Abdullah Öcalan emphasized that this paragraph is a continuation of the call.
Öcalan asked that this paragraph be definitively read in the hall where his call would be announced.
Thus, the paragraph in question, which points to the obligations of the state, was made public through Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
