Third phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates begins
Syrian Democratic Forces announced the beginning of the third phase in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates to liberate eastern Raqqa from ISIS occupation ad encirclement of the city.
Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the beginning of the third phase in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates to liberate Raqqa from ISIS occupation.
Beginning of the third phase of the operation was declared in a press briefing in Shabdax village in Silûk town of Girê Spî.
According to the press statement read by Operation Wrath of Euphrates Spokesperson Cîhan Şêx, the third phase of the operation is aimed for the cleansing of eastern Raqqa from gang groups and encirclement of the city.
Cîhan Şêx stated that civilian administration of the city will be executed by the people of Raqqa after the liberation of the city.
Details of the press statement read by Operation Wrath of Euphrates Spokesperson Cîhan Şêx are as follows:
“The military campaign we launched to liberate Raqqa from ISIS occupation continues. We announce that we are starting the third phase in the Operation Wrath of Euphrates.
Facing heavier defeats every day, ISIS gangs are increasing their attacks on civilians.
In the third phase of our operation, we will liberate the villages to the east of Raqqa from the atrocity of ISIS gangs with the support of the civilians living in this territory.
Again, with the support of the tribes and opinion leaders of the region, and the aerial and special forces support of the International Coalition Forces, we will cleanse whole Raqqa of ISIS gangs.
All the forces that joined the first and second phase of our operation will participate in the third phase as well. Many youths from the liberated areas will engage in the fight against gangs in the new groups to be formed once they conclude their training.
As our operation continues, we call upon the people of Raqqa to stay away from the locations where ISIS gangs are present, and to assist our forces once they reach their areas.
We also call on the youth of Raqqa to join our ranks and to liberate their lands.”
The first phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates was launched from northern Raqqa on November 5, 2016 and the second from western Raqqa on December 10, 2016.
