Thousands gathered at Radio Onda d'Urto Festival in Brescia to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The Radio Onda d'Urto festival has been organized for 31 years in the Italian city of Brescia.
During the 18-day event, a special day was reserved to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the defense of the Kurdish people's right to independence.
Organized by Radio Onda d'urta and the Italian Kurdistan Information office, the event called "Time of Hope" saw the participation of thousands of people, who were informed about the Kurdish issue and protested the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan.
Thousands listened to the book presentation and speeches before the concert.
The book "Time of Hope" tells the life of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan as a comic, while "No Stopping Until Shengal" tells about the Yazidi massacre in Shengal and sold more than 300 thousand copies in Italy last year. Both books are comics by Zero Calcare
Chiara Crucciati and Rojbin Beritan presented their book on Shengal, "Lonely Mountain".
Yılmaz Orkan, representative of the Italian Kurdistan Information Office said: "Leader Apo came to Italy 25 years ago. His aim was to resolve the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom democratically. But he was imprisoned as a result of an international conspiracy. He has been in prison for 25 years now. There has been no news for 29 months and he is under intense isolation in İmrali. We, the Kurdish people, have always continued our struggle. We will continue this struggle. In this process, we invite everyone, especially our Italian friends, to fight for Leader Apo."
Italian writer Zero Calcare read passages from the defense of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. He said; "Abdullah Öcalan is the leader of a people and it saddens me that he has been in prison for years. He must be free. We must be in solidarity with the Kurdish people who are fighting for this."
After the speeches, various Italian bands took to the stage.
