Thousands protest occupation of Rojava and isolation of Öcalan
Thousands of people from Kurdistan and their allies protested the AKP’s policies of occupation and massacre targeting Rojava and North Kurdistan, and demanded the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan across Europe.

Thousands of people from Kurdistan and their allies protested the AKP’s policies of occupation and massacre targeting Rojava and North Kurdistan, and demanded the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan across Europe.
BORDEAUX
People of Kurdistan and their French allies gathered in the Bourse square in Bordeaux to condemn the AKP government’s appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities and attacks on Rojava cantons. The protestors also demanded the freedom of Öcalan. Members of the Bordeaux Democratic Kurdish Society Center and French Anti-fascist movement addressed the protestors, called for solidarity, and emphasized that they would continue their protests until peace and democracy are achieved in the Middle East.
Protestors also supported the Saturday Mothers’ struggle, which is in its 600th week.
HELSINKI
Hundreds of peoples of Finland and Kurdistan marched in the Finnish capitol Helsinki to protest Turkey’s attacks on Rojava and support for ISIS and other gang groups. Former Finnish Foreign Affairs Minister Erkki Tuomioja addressed the protesters, described Turkey’s attacks on Syria and Rojava as ‘unacceptable,’ and called upon the European Union to condemn Turkey’s attacks on Kurdish people under the disguise of fighting ISIS. Tuomioja stated that Kurds have the right to have a status in the Middle East, and described the YPG and YPJ as holy forces that fight brutal ISIS gangs in the name of humanity.
HANNOVER
Nearly a thousand people participated in the ‘Freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’ march organized by Hannover Free Youth and supported by Hildesheim, Hannover, Peine, Salzgitter and Celle Democratic Kurdish Society Centers in Hannover, Germany. German pamphlets were distributed and PYD, YPG and YPJ banners were displayed during the protest that began at 17:00. Protestors often chanted the slogans of ‘Terrorist Turkey, Murderer Erdoğan,’ ‘Fascist AKP,’ ‘Long Live Leader Apo,’ and ‘No Life Without the Leader’ during the event that began and ended at Hannover Train Station.
DEN HAAG
Hundreds of people of Kurdistan and their Dutch allies took to the streets in Den Haag, the Netherlands and demanded the end of the on-going war and the restart of the solution process. Protestors condemned the AKP’s appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities, and chanted slogans such as ‘Freedom to Öcalan, Status to Kurdistan.’
HAMBURG
Led by the KCDK-E, protestors organized a march in Hamburg, Germany on September 24 to demand the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. A Free Youth representative condemned Erdoğan’s appointment of trustees to DBP municipalities and described the isolation of Öcalan as an indicator of the AKP’s goal of eliminating Kurdish people. The representative called upon the people of Kurdistan and democratic circles to take a stance, and the march ended in the neighborhood of Altona.
MONTPELLIER
People of Kurdistan and representatives of French left-wing organizations marched in Montpellier, France to demand freedom for Öcalan and status for Kurdistan. Led by Montpellier Democratic Kurdish Society Center (DKSC), carried posters of Öcalan, distributed pamphlets, and chanted slogans such as ‘Murderer AKP, ’ ‘Turkey out of Kurdistan,’ ‘Long Live Leader Apo,’ and ‘Don’t Touch my Will and Leader.’ The event ended after the speech of the DKSC representative in Comédie Square.
ITALY
People of Kurdistan and their Italian allies came together in Bolzano, Novara and Rome to protest the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Turkish state’s attacks on Rojava and North Kurdistan. In Novara, hundreds of protestors distributed pamphlets and showed their solidarity with Kurdish people. In Bolzano, protestors marched from Valter Square to the municipal square and called for an end to the isolation of Öcalan.
Thousands of people gathered in the Porta Pia area of Rome and held a march organized by Kurdish Culture Center Ararat and Rote Kurdistan. Protestors carried posters of Öcalan and chanted slogans such as ‘Murderer Erdoğan,’ ‘Women, Life, Freedom,’ and ‘Long Live Leader Apo.’ Italian press widely covered the march, during which protestors condemned the AKP government’s policies of massacre against Kurdish people.
