Three-day march for Öcalan in Paris

Kurds in Europe stage long marches in protest at the February 15 international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the isolation imposed on him by the Turkish state.

The Democratic Kurdish Council of France (CDK-F) and the Kurdish Women’s Movement in France (TJK-F) organised a three-day march in Paris to protest the 21st anniversary of the International Conspiracy which led to the capture in Kenya of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 15 February 1999.

The march kicked off in front of the Town Hall of Villeneuve Saint with the slogan “Freedom for Öcalan”. Mayor Sylvie Altman and KCDK-E (Kurdish Democratic Society Congress in Europe) Executive Board member Murat Ceylan addressed the crowd here.

Mayor Sylvie Altman said France shouldn’t forget the sacrifices made by Kurdish women and Kurdish people in their fight against barbaric ISIS mercenaries. Altman also called for the PKK to be delisted as a terrorist organisation and freedom for Öcalan.

KCDK-E Executive Board member Murat Ceylan stated that the international conspiracy was aimed at imprisoning the ideas of Öcalan but was frustrated by the brave and selfless resistance of Öcalan and his comrades. He vowed to keep the struggle going until the physical freedom of the Kurdish leader is gained.

During the course of the march, activists will be submitting dossiers on the conspiracy and the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

The march will be concluded with a rally at the Republique Square in Paris at 13:00 on Sunday.
