Time of hope is the event for the Kurdish people that will take place in Rome on Sunday 18 September.
On Sunday 18 September, at the Schuster Park, in Ostiense, in Rome, several Italian artists and a Kurdish musical group will play, in support of the history, tradition and social model that the population of Kurdistan preserves and proposes.
From 6 pm Daniele Silvestri, Fiorella Mannoia, Elio Germano, Giacomo Bevilacqua and Michele Zerocalcare (+ special guest), Pierpaolo Capovilla and the Bad Masters, Hani Mojtahedy & the Moon, Punkreas, The Andre, Anna Favella will take the stage.
A day of celebration, of aggregation, of culture and music which, however, must once again denounce the injustices, carried out by nation states as well as terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State, against the populations living in Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria.
"The Kurdish people have suffered from at least the end of the First World War, a diaspora and repression that is the result of nationalism and racism. - says Paolo Noise, guitarist of Punkreas - We have always been in solidarity with the liberation struggle of the Kurdish people. In Rojava there is a political experiment going on as well as a resistance against ISIS."
For Fiorella Mannoia "the purpose of this evening is to draw attention to the fate of a courageous people. It is a story of the diaspora and repression. In recent years, world powers used the Kurds to fight the advance of ISIS that threatened our security. They, men and women, brave fighters, avoided ISIS advance. They were promised help but in the end found themselves being betrayed again. Their language, culture, the right to live according to their model of society is denied. We will all be together to ask that Ocalan and the other PKK prisoners be released after more than 20 years of imprisonment, convinced that a dialogue of peace can be opened in an area where war has been present for too long. Being alongside the Kurdish people is a duty. Like it is a duty to side with all peoples who are deprived of the dignity of living in peace at home ".
