Demonstrations will take place in tens of centres throughout at least 11 countries, led by the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E). “We call on all of our people, especially women and youth, our democratic forces, and our friends to unite around Leader Apo,” TJK-E said.
Protests will be held in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, England, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, in particular.
TJK-E made the following statement regarding the protests:
“For 22 years, Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] has been imprisoned in complete isolation and subjected to systematic torture. This absolute isolation system is unseen in the world. Individual practices with no legal basis prevent lawyer and family meetings.
This rigorous isolation and systematic torture, which has been in place for 22 years, is essentially a system of oppression, torture, and isolation directed towards Kurds, women, and all democratic forces. This extreme isolation and torture regime devised against Leader Apo is at the heart of the genocidal policies being perpetrated against the Kurdish people every day.
Leader Apo's great struggle in Imrali negated and reversed all of these attacks, allowing existence to triumph where poverty was forced and freedom to sprout where servitude was intended to increase. For the past 22 years, the Kurdish people and their allies have fought unabated against these attacks. Every day, every minute, for 22 years, resistance, struggle, and freedom were gained, and the conspiracy forces were defeated.
Kurdish women and Kurdish people have renewed themselves and shattered the 100-year-old idea of denial and annihilation through their resistance. Our people, who carried the fight for the Democratic, Women's Libertarian, and Ecological Society paradigm to a new level, demonstrated to the entire globe that nothing will ever be the same again. With the Rojava Revolution, a new source of hope for the peoples of the Middle East has emerged. The autonomous system and the self-defence that emerged in Shengal revolutionized the Yazidi people's history and led them to freedom.
Leader Apo's most ambitious project, the women's liberation revolution, defied the taboos by introducing new approaches to social problems and societal reconstruction, as well as new tactics of struggle. The Kurdish people have witnessed a meeting like no other, with women, young, elderly, and children uniting under one roof in four parts of Kurdistan. The most conducive environment for national unity has been established. Even though this revolution, which has been knitted for more than 44 years, was wanted to be destroyed through the international conspiracy, Leader Apo's struggle has created revolutions within a revolution. A revolution has emerged that has changed the fate of not only the Kurdish people, but also the fate of women, peoples, faith groups and nature.
Against this backdrop, the AKP-MHP fascist administration further isolated Leader Apo and targeted the Kurdish people, women, and democratic forces with murderous policies. Women and our people, particularly the Freedom Guerrillas, have responded to the AKP-MHP fascist regime's murderous attacks, which seek to accomplish outcomes by destruction and violence. The freedom guerilla responded with an epic battle against the invading Turkish state, who has been perpetrating all kinds of war crimes and bombarding the guerrilla with chemical weapons for months, and its collaborator KDP. This will and determination assure that the AKP-MHP fascist administration will experience a grave loss to bring its end.
The AKP-MHP fascist administration is attempting to survive by relying on hegemonic forces for military, political, and economic support. The CPT's overlooking of the absolute isolation and torture system, the ECtHR breaking of even its own law when it comes to Kurds, the open support of the European Union, particularly Germany and France, to the fascist Turkish regime for economic and political reasons, the most hypocritical policies of the United States… These are all efforts to pull the AKP-MHP fascist regime, which is on the verge of destruction, out of this swamp. However, these efforts to exonerate Turkey's regime, which is irresponsibly terrorizing the Kurdish people, are futile. This fact is becoming more clear by the day. The Kurdish people's struggle for freedom has now transcended borders. The Kurdish people's freedom movement has been welcomed by women and peoples around the world, and people from all over the world are banding together under the banner "Defend Kurdistan against occupation, isolation, and genocide."
On this basis, the "Dem Dema Azadiyê ye!" [Time for Freedom] campaign initiated an important struggle and created a strong tie around our Leader. This campaign was also a response to the occupation, and it forged a common attitude and stance throughout the four parts of Kurdistan and abroad against the planned genocidal assaults.
As we start the second year of our victory march, we are determined to broaden our struggle and lead it to a triumph under the motto "Time for Freedom! Leader Apo's Freedom is Our Freedom!” As the European Kurdish Women's Movement, we have a strong claim to carry the Kurdish people's victory movement to a new level.
On this basis, we urge all of our people, especially women and youth, democratic forces, and supporters to unite around Leader Apo and participate in the actions planned for Saturday, September 11 in several European cities led by the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E).
