According to Human Rights Association's report Turkish army is responsible for forest fires which affected thousands of hectares of land. A Kurdish villager was killed in result of the forest fires.
IHD said the forest fires effected areas mainly in Dersim and Sirnak. Turkish army set 76 forest fires in between July and August and 98 fires in 2010 as a whole.
30 forest fires were reported in Sirnak and 28 forest fires in Dersim in 2010.
A Kurdish villager, Cangir Ustun (69) were killed in a forest fire which was set by Turkish army last August in Sirnak. Two others were wounded in the same incident.
Three Kurdish villages in Batman province, Keceli, Palamutlu and Günesli was forcibly evacuated and the houses were set on fire by the Turkish soldiers in 2010.
