Turkish nationalists who tortured 2 Kurdish students released

Four Turkish fascists who forcibly abducted two Kurdish students and tortured them were released by a prosecutor yesterday, and not remanded in custody.

Four members of the Turkish nationalist Turanian Movement who forcibly abducted two Kurdish students and tortured them in the basement of the Atsız Culture House in Kadıköy were released by a prosecutor, and not remanded in custody.

A Turkish prosecutor ignored CCTV footage of four members of the far-right Turanian Movement abducting two Kurdish students before torturing them in the basement of the Atsız Culture House in Kadıköy, releasing them without asking for them to be remanded in custody. This once again demonstrated that in Turkey seeking your rights is an offence while torture is not.

The Turanian Movement Platform is notorious for ordering attacks on HDP members. On 20 May the Platform chair Hasan Karabey and three others forced two Kurdish students into the basement of the Atsız Culture House, tying their hands and stuffing their mouths with socks before beating and threatening them. Despite the existence of CCTV footage the 4 suspects were released after being held for 4 days in the Kadıköy police station in the Kartal court without the prosecutor asking for their remand in custody.
