Turkish prison administration keeps DBP co-chair in a cell

Mehmet Arslan, co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) is isolated from other prisoners and kept in a prison cell for the past 10 days.

Arslan, who was detained on February 7, is now arrested for the past 10 days and he is awaiting trial in Diyarbakir D Type Prison.

His lawyers said that Arslan is isolated from other prisoners and kept in a prison cell for the past 10 days.

Lawyer Sivan Cemin Ozen said Arslan was arrested for his political activities and added “he is the co-chair of a party that won more than 100 municipalities in the region. It’s a law scandal that Arslan’s political activities are considered as a crime”.

Arslan’s appeals were rejected by the prison administration and he was told that he will be transferred to another prison.
