At the football match attended by Kurdish and internationalist youth in Athens, football players and spectators drew attention to the inhuman attacks carried out by the Turkish state.
During the football match, banners reading "No to the use of chemical weapons, solidarity with the Kurdish Freedom Guerrilla" were unfurled.
Smoke bombs in green, red and yellow colours were also lit to show solidarity with the Kurdish people.
The match ended 2-1 for Αστέρας Εξαρχείων (Star of Exarchia), that beat Αλσουπολη (Alsupolis).
'We stand by the Kurdish guerrillas'
At the end of the match, the winning team raised its banner and gave a speech. "The use of chemical weapons by the fascist Turkish regime in Kurdistan for more than 6 months is far from the morality of war. Turkey cannot prevent its defeat by using banned chemical weapons against the Kurdish people and guerrillas. Kurdish guerrillas and peoples will gain their freedom. Anyone who remains silent on the use of chemical weapons is a partner of this regime. We, as the winning team and its supporters, state that we stand by the Kurdish guerrillas against the war crimes carried out by the Turkish regime and embrace their struggle with our international struggle. We call on the Kurdish and internationalists to stand up against the use of chemical weapons. The OPCW and its humanitarian organizations must also fulfil their duties against chemical attacks.”
