The Van Heavy Penal Night Court has remanded in custody a further nine people who had been taken into custody in the past 24 hours. They are held on charges of membership of an illegal organization. The past 24 hours have seen 22 people arrested in Hakkari. All of the people had been taken into custody when the police attacked the demonstration held to protest against the government policy of war.

In the past few days well over 3000 people have been taken into custody in many cities.
