Pensioners started a two days sit in for their rights. The action was organized to ask a raise in pensions, less wage cut for health services and new work places.
Retired Workers Trade Unions held a press conference in Istanbul yesterday to launch the sit-in. Unions 3rd. Branch member Hasan Kacgir addressed the people at the meeting: “SSGSS (New social security law) has been presented to us as revolution. As we are seeing the real face of the SSGSS is coming out less then 20 months since the law passed.
According to the new law, patients are client for hospitals and contribution for examination is robbing retired workers. Besides these, even though paying for service we cannot have access to appropriate health care. That is why we are going to have two days sit-in.”
The protest will end on Saturday at 12pm.
