Ultimatum for Qatar: Turkey also on target

Four Arab countries imposing an embargo on Qatar issued a list of demands to end the sanctions.

Saudia Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain issued a 13-point list of demands. The following are the most significant:

- Shut down the Turkish military base in Qatar

- Shut down Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera

- End cooperation with Iran

- Pay compensation to four countries due to terrorism

- Cease all relationship with Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, ISIS and Al Nusra

- Stop financing terrorist or extremist groups

These demands were presented to the Qatar administration via intermediator Kuwait. The four countries gave Qatar 10 days to comply with the demands.

Saudi Arabia and their allies had decided to impose an embargo on Qatar by early June. The four countries severed their ties completely, while many others restricted relationships with Qatar.

Qatar is accused of supporting and financing terrorism and for their relationship to Iran.

Turkey was the most avid defender of Qatar. The country even sent cargo planes and ships full of food aid and Turkish products gained a foothold on Qatari shelves.
