Union Coalition Platform to meet tomorrow

To exchange ideas with workers as to the way and line of struggle to be followed, Union Coalition Platform (SGBP) will hold its final meeting on 26 November in Istanbul before the Türk-Ýþ General Assembly.

Speaking to Evrensel paper before the meeting, SGBP Istanbul Branch chairs said that the coalition should widely be disseminated by the base, activities should continue without differentiating unions and workers and presented principles should strongly be followed.

Harb-Ýþ Istanbul Anatolian Side Branch Chair Hüseyin Över said that; “Rather than being formed for the Turk-Ýþ congress alone, in order to gain strength in the base, we expect this coalition to be a platform to own the matters of the worker class, to organize struggle and to unite workers and laborers without a distinction of unions and confederations so that strength could be gained in the base.”

Petrol-Ýþ Istanbul Branch No 2 Chairman Ecvet Eþlegül remarked that the meeting on 26 November would be the mirror of the labor struggle as well as of Türk-Ýþ Administrative General Assembly. Eþlegül said that “This coalition, which has been mentioned as the unity of central offices until yesterday, has today reached many workers and consolidated with regional meetings. The Istanbul meeting will once again reach the workers within this unity. These are very positive developments.” Eþlegül criticized the administration of Türk-Ýþ union which-he added- remained silent and doesn’t display expected reactions against attacks and noted that SGBP revived the class movement. Eþlegül ended saying that the unity would continue obtaining positive results in case of not being separated after the Türk-Ýþ congress.

Haber-Ýþ Istanbul Branch No 1 Chairman Ahmet Karatay stated that the SGBP’s branches under the coalition should welcome all organized and disorganized workers and advance the struggle of working class. “The unity should be capable of defend rights and demands of workers and laborers against union laws and the constitution. It should welcome everyone without narrowing. We support this coalition in deference to the works and principles it has produced. Branches of unions should also act in consideration of these points” said Karatay and added that they would attend the meeting on 26 November and support SGBP.
