International solidarity with Kurdish hunger strikers is growing.
Left Party executives and members in Uppsala city of Sweden gathered to express their solidarity with the Kurdish hunger strikers who demand an end to the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The Left Party members, with photos of Leyla Güven in their hands, stated that their solidarity with the hunger strikers will continue until the isolation is lifted.
MP Ilona Szatmari Waldau criticized the denial of Öcalan’s meeting with his family and lawyers for years, and called for an immediate end to the aggravated isolation imposed on him.
President of the Left Party Uppsala Region, Torbjörn Björlund, emphasized that human rights are for everyone, including Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Party executive Yekbun Alp said they welcomed the release of HDP MP Leyla Güven from prison with joy, adding that they hoped all the political prisoners would be released from detention.
“The isolation of Öcalan must be removed in order for the democratization of Turkey and achievement of a peaceful solution”, Alp added.
