Kurds and their friends are taking to the streets today to remember the victims of the 9 January 2013 and 23 December 2022 massacres of Kurds in Paris. On 9 January 2013, in Paris, Sakine Cansız, one of the founders of the PKK, Fidan Doğan, the KNK representative in Paris, and Leyla Şaylemez, a member of the youth movement, were murdered by the Turkish intelligence service MIT. On the tenth anniversary of this massacre, another massacre was carried out on 23 December 2022, claiming the lives of Emine Kara (Evîn Goyî), member of the Executive Council of the KCK, Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) from the Kurdish cultural movement and long-time activist Abdurrahman Kızıl in front of the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Center in the French capital.
A march was organized in Hamburg to commemorate Evin Goyi, Mir Perwer, Abdurahman Kızıl, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez.
Hamburg Rojbin Women's Assembly, Kiel Jiyana Jin Women's Association, Bremen Sévé Women's Assembly and Aurich Zelal Women's Assembly participated in the march that started in front of the Rote Flora Cultural Center in the Sternschanze district of the city.
In a speech after a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of Paris, Activist Anja Flach stated that the Kurdish people and their friends continue to seek justice and said, "Even though they are not physically among us, their thoughts and ideals always illuminate our path."
Left Party Hamburg MP Cansu Özdemir stated that the judicial mechanisms of European states remain dysfunctional when Kurds are murdered.
The march ended in front of Damtor Prison where Sakine Cansız was imprisoned in Hamburg.
