Vigil in front of the UN headquarters in Geneva enters 7th month

As every Wednesday, Kurdish activists protested in front of the UN headquarters in Geneva against the international silence on the Turkish attacks on Kurdistan and demanded freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.

Every Wednesday for the past six months, Kurds have protested in front of the UN headquarters in Geneva against the international silence regarding the Turkish attacks on Kurdistan. The protest action was launched by the Democratic Kurdish Community in Switzerland (CDK-S) as part of the "Against isolation, occupation and genocide - time for freedom" campaign.

Today's rally was opened with a minute of silence for the martyrs of the Kurdish liberation struggle. In a speech here, CDK-S co-chair İsmail Kardaş pointed out the guerrillas' resistance against the Turkish occupation attacks and called for supporting this struggle everywhere. Co-chair Selma Sürer said, "Kurds have been demanding the lifting of Abdullah Öcalan's isolation in front of the UN headquarters since January 25. While the guerrillas in Kurdistan are putting up massive resistance to the occupation, we must also contribute. This is especially true for women and youth. Only in this way can we liberate Kurdistan."
